She also works as an instructor for the California Naturalist and Climate Stewardship certifications\, as well as having 18 years of experience as a ranger in Yosemite National Park. \nBringing all that experience\, Lisa will present results from the 2025 Snapshot USA project—a nationwide mammal-tracking project affiliated with the Smithsonian Institute that was conducted in Strawberry Canyon and other Greenspace properties. \nThere is a $10 suggested donation for attending. DESCRIPTION:Join the Cambria Historical Society for an evening learning about one of the great unknown stories of World War II: the attack on and sinking of a U.S. commercial vessel\, the SS Montebello\, off the Central Coast of California in 1941. The CHS Speaker Series brings author Stuart McDowell for a presentation at the Sea Chest Oyster Bar restaurant\, alongside a dedication of the ship’s wheel. \nThe Sea Chest is on the map prepared by N.O.A.A. as the referenced landmark location for the underwater wreckage of the Montebello\, and the ship’s wheel now greets guests at the restaurant’s entrance. McDowell will speak on the significance of this event\, a stunning occurrence that few are even aware happened at all. This is your chance to hear this untold story. \nA wine bar and gourmet refreshments will be available at the event. Seating is limited to 50\, so be sure to reserve your place online. Reservations are free for CHS members and $20 for non-members.

SUMMARY:2026 Greenspace Annual Monterey Pine Tree Planting
DESCRIPTION:Join Greenspace Cambria in their restorative efforts for the new year as they set about planting another 1\,000 Monterey pine trees at Hearst San Simeon State Park. This annual tree planting project began at the park in 2019\, and after seven years of plantings\, over 7\,000 trees have been grown and planted so far. With a burgeoning forest taking root\, this event will let you contribute to planting additional trees\, as well as native understory shrubs to help support the ecosystem even more. \nGreenspace has set the date (weather permitting) for Saturday\, January 24\, 2026\, starting at 9 a.m. You can sign up by sending an email to admin@greenspacecambria.org\, noting the number of planters who will be in your group—Greenspace will email you back further details\, and you can also watch their website\, social media\, and newsletters for updated info. All ages are welcome. Lunch\, snacks\, and drinks will be provided.

DESCRIPTION:The four-day celebration of culture and creativity returns to Cambria in 2026. Events kick off with a wine seminar the afternoon of Thursday\, January 29.
